Promises of God from 1 John, Part 1

Here are selected promises of God from 1 John:

“God is light; in him there is no darkness at all” (1:5).
“If we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from every sin” (1:7).
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” (1:9).
If we sin, “we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.  He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world” (2:1-2).
“The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever” (2:17).

Sermon Notes "Plans" based on Acts 10:24-48

Introduction: I would like you to think about the word “plans”. Write down on your bulletin some plans you have for: this week, summer, your future, etc.   I am a planner so I love to know what is going to happen.   Yet we also need to keep in mind a Scripture from Proverbs 19:21 “Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.” We are going to see from the story of Peter and Cornelius, two great leaders who had plans yet God had a different plan and purpose for them and for others.
