Disciples making Disciples

Today at Hesston MB, we commissioned our entire congregation as "disciples making disciples" in their homes, workplaces, schools, and neighborhoods. Part of that commissioning included a responsive reading. I have shared it below.

Leader: At Hesston MB, we seek to be disciples making disciples. This is accomplished as we are Centered on Scripture, Holy Spirit Empowered, Reaching  the World, Intimate Worshipers, Serving Others, in Transparent Relationships.
Response: This purpose and goals live out Matthew 22:37 & 39, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and love your neighbor as yourself.”
Leader: Today, we commission the HMBC family to be disciplemakers in their home, workplace, school, or neighborhood.
Response: We gladly accept this commission because we know that the same power that raised Christ from the dead lives in us.
Leader: We are sending you out from this church building into the streets because of Jesus’ words from John 20:21
Response: “As the Father has sent me, I am sending you."

Leader: We go out as disciplemakers not from guilt or to earn God’s love. Instead we go out because we know His unconditional love for us, because we know who God is and who we are in Christ.

Response: We look forward to impacting “one another” in response to God’s great love for us as expressed in 1 John 4:11 “Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.”
Leader: Brothers and Sisters, “go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”
Response:  “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Both: “Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen.”
