Tullian Tchividjian at Liberate Conference

Saturday night, Tullian Tchividjian shared about One Way Love.

One of the greatest draws of Liberate is Ft. Lauderdale in February.

His topic was "Inexhaustible grace for an exhausted people"

What is main problem in evangelicalism? Most would answer related to cultural wars.

20 years from now his hope is people will respond "forgiveness of sins."

We should be good news specialists.

When it comes to the gospel, there is no "and then."

Luke 4:16-21-May God use the mission statement of Jesus to blow our minds.

We live our lives under a banner that reads, "it is finished."

The church should be one place in all of society where people can find rest, but instead they get a to do lists.

Life places many demands on us. Life is long on law and short on grace.

Where does our exhaustion come from?
Often we think it comes from outside of us.  But it is not. It is from inside of us.
Robert Capon quote (further, better, more aggressive)
It is through these things (marriage, parenting, work) that we try to save ourselves.
Functionally, we are addicted to justification by our works.
We are addicted to performancism (mindset that equates our identity with how we are performing)
What are our idols? Our kids, spouse, work, etc.
The musts of life are many.  We all feel them.  When this happens? We turn to self salvation.
There is something in us that seeks to appease the judge (whoever that may be)
I have never seen an unhappy face on a person on Facebook.
Why do we exhaust ourselves trying to get people to think things about us that are not true?

What is the cure for our exhaustion?
Throughout the Old Testament, theme of Rescuer is developed.
I have come to set the captives free. What does that mean?
    Self righteousness goes both ways.
For those who get it, we are free to be patient and loving with those who don't get it.
We are not just delivering a message of freedom, but it also gives freedom to us as messengers.
Our love for our children is best demonstrated when they mess up.
The gospel does not just free us from what others think about us, but also frees us from what we          think about ourselves.
If we are not attracting the kind of people Jesus attracted, then we are not preaching the same   message.
There is something in even our best works that needs to be pardoned.
Who you really are has nothing to do with you. Your identity is firmly anchored in Jesus.
You are not what you do.  You are what Jesus has done for you.
Because we are clothed with the righteousness of Christ, we are accepted, loved, and in forever without any need to validate our existence.
