"When in the Bible did God give anyone an easy task?"

In this room, we have thousands of people with a calling with massive implications. The temptation is to focus on wrong things.

"What matters most is not what you accomplish, it's who you become."

Our primary responsibility is to be present with Him.  John 15 says "Remain in me and I will remain in you. . . .Apart from me you will do nothing.

The branch is to abide; to remain.

"We are, therefore we act." The Christian life is to be committed to God. I must stay connected to Him and if I do fruit will come.

Plan A is the family. 

Are we going to choose God-sized obedience or a man-sized solution?

Exodus 33: 7,11-"Then Moses would return to the camp . . .but Joshua did not leave the tent.


"Maybe Moses was addicted to doing for God instead of just being with God."

"Constant contact with our Creator is essential to fulfill our calling."

He is going through a difficult season of ministry and while weeping at a stoplight he discovers Psalm 18:2 on his girl sunglasses. You are going to have to stop trying to please people.  He felt God speaking, "Abide in Me! I am your safe place."

"God is with you.  He wants to know, are you with Me?" Are we going to choose to be with Him?

"Same God of the universe that gave you this calling is going to equip you to fulfill this task."

You are exhausted at the soul level-no amount of vacation, naps will fix it. The only kind of rest that will work is what is described in Matthew 11.

Sermon Notes "Plans" based on Acts 10:24-48

Introduction: I would like you to think about the word “plans”. Write down on your bulletin some plans you have for: this week, summer, your future, etc.   I am a planner so I love to know what is going to happen.   Yet we also need to keep in mind a Scripture from Proverbs 19:21 “Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.” We are going to see from the story of Peter and Cornelius, two great leaders who had plans yet God had a different plan and purpose for them and for others.
