  • City-wide, young adult worship experience-we called it Kairos. Here's what we found out . . .
    • A lot of confusion among young adult
    • Moralistic therapeutic deism (Better person, Feel better, God is somewhere no one knows his address
    • Syncretistic worldview (a little Jesus, Buddhism, Homer Simpson, etc. & mix together)
    • We had discovered the "emerging adult"-the time between adolescence and full adulthood
    • Extending education
    • Changing job market
    • Most "marketed to" generation in history (what do you want from me?)
    • Cynical about institutions (lack of trust in church)
      •  "As the church, we don't start at ground zero, but instead at a negative number."
    • First generation born in the Digital Revolution
    • and they're not coming to church (postponing marriage, children, and the church)
    • Can't assume Biblical knowledge or even that they have a Bible
      • Read It.
      • Tell me what it means.
      • Tell me how to do it.
    •  Student Ministry went from entertainment to transformational
      • Life Groups
      • Worship
      • Service
      • Specific focus for each grade in teaching
  •  Parents are the primary disciplers of their children. Our parents weren't prepared to do this . . .
    • So we reworked our adult Sunday School process
    • New Member Process
    • Spiritual Growth Plan-What is Jesus teaching you now? "Nothing replaces Scripture in your life."
    • Transformational Life Strategy 
      1. Worship as a lifestyle

      3. Focusing on God's Word
      4. Community Involvement

      • There are some things that just happen in obedience.
