Dale Hudson pre-con lab at D6 Conference

Dale Hudson lab was titled, "Magnetic Family Ministry: How to Draw Families to Your Church."

Magnets-invisible force that draws things.

How can we do this in ministry? We cannot do this. But Jesus can. See John 12:32, John 6:44

Mark 6:5-What barrier is keeping people from being drawn?

10 Principles:

1. Unity that is grounded in love, driven by vision, and empowered by core values.

a. See John 17:21, John 13:35, Psalm 133:1, Colossians 3:12-14, Proverbs 29:18

b. “Who you are is more important than what you do.”

2. Keep an outward focus

a. See Luke 19:10, 2 Peter 3:9

3. Make sure the front door shines

a. First impression is the lasting impression. Decision is made in first 8 minutes when someone visits your church.

i. Have guest parking

ii. Have signage

iii. Make sure you have the right people greeting at the doors

4. Be culturally relevant

a. See 1 Chronicles 12:32. Do we connect with people in our community?

5. Meet people where they are at & love them in Christ

a. Matthew 9:9-13, Luke 19:5-10, Luke 7:34, Ephesians 4:15, Luke 14:15-24

6. Make children and student ministry a top priority

a. Mark 10:13-16

b. Safety & security are a main concern

7. Provide clear, simple steps for families to get connected and grow spiritually

a. Off the road & into a circle

8. Do a few things well

a. Not more ministries, but be selective

b. See questions/statements on handout

9. Be committed to excellence

a. See 1 Corinthians 10:31

b. Do your best in everything you do! This is not about perfection, but doing our best.

c. Think of example of Disney. Certain handrails painted every single night. Is it clean? Outside of church? Correspondence?

10. Make room

a. 85% rule-if you church is 85% full, you church will stop growing

i. Classrooms

ii. Parking

iii. Do we have room to grow?

iv. See Mark 2:1-12
