Proverbs

Are you feeling like you need some wisdom today? Have some hard decisions to make? Not sure what to do? Check out the book of Proverbs. I have read this book many times before, but had an "aha" moment today as I read the opening verses.

The subtitle says, "Prologue: Purpose and Theme"

Proverbs 1:1-7 says "The proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel: for attaining wisdom and discipline; for understanding words of insight; for acquiring a disciplined and prudent life, doing what is right and and just and fair; for giving prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the young--let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance--for understanding proverbs and parables, the sayings and riddles of the wise. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline."

All of these things that we want and seek out are found in God's Word. This prologue reminded me of the importance of wisdom and discipline in my life and for my family. The book of Proverbs is full of wisdom and guidance for our lives today. Why not add reading through the Proverbs on a regular basis? Someone once told me you can read through a Proverb a day by reading whichever Proverb matches the date. So, for today read Proverbs 20. It is well worth your time today. As I read it, there were several verses that spoke to me. Looking forward to gaining wisdom through God's Word with you!
