Book Discussion on Lord Foulgrin's Letters this Wednesday

This Wednesday, I will be leading a book discussion on Lord Foulgrin's Letters by Randy Alcorn. I have read the book twice and highly recommend it. As I reflected on what to write, I decided to quote Alcorn from his afterword.

Alcorn writes, "This is reality, not myth-we are actually being watched, hovered over, and whispered to; not only by God and righteous angels, but by fallen angels, demons. These beings are likely present in this room as I write, and wherever you are as you read. If God were to open our eyes we would see angels, both fallen and unfallen, as clearly as I see this computer screen or you see these pages.

"Paul took a particular course of action 'that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes' (2 Corinthians 2:11). The degree to which Satan outwits us will correspond directly to how informed-or ignorant-we are of his schemes against us. Lord Foulgrin's Letters is intended to make us more aware of those schemes and more successful in resisting them."

Here are the questions I will use for our discussion and you can use as you read through the book:

1. What are your first impressions of the Fletcher family relationship?
2. Who or what are the following: Squaltaint? Lord Beelzebub? Enemy? Vermin? Charis? Erebus? Sludgebags? Skiathorus? Imagebearers? Divine Parent? Forbidden Squadron? Carpenter?
3. Which of Foulgrin's rules stood out to you?
4. How do Foulgrin's view of heaven, hell, pain, and suffering compare to your views?
5. How will the way Foulgrin thinks about church, the Bible, and prayer affect your beliefs/actions?
6. How does Lord Foulgrin's Letters affect your view of evangelism?
7. How does the Enemy deceive us in the areas of obedience, parenting, marriage, work and money?
8. How does Foulgrin view culture, media, and politics?
9. What were some of the things Lord Foulgrin's Letters teaches about spiritual warfare, faith, and life that you disagreed with?
10. Would you recommend Lord Foulgrin's Letters to a friend?
